Code of Ethics
As employees of the Commonwealth of Virginia and the Office of Children’s Services, we will:
  • Act with integrity in all relationships.
  • Treat all persons as we would like to be treated, in an evenhanded, respectful and courteous manner, cultivating authentic belonging and individual acceptance.
  • Lead by example and champion diversity, equity, and inclusion in all aspects of our work.
  • Exercise prudence and integrity in managing Virginia’s human service programs, operations, systems and assets.
  • Dedicate our efforts toward earning the respect, trust and confidence of the public, elected and appointed officials, local Children’s Services Act staff, and those with whom we work.

  • Abide by Virginia’s Standards of Conduct for Employees and related regulations.

  • Hold ourselves accountable for adhering to the OCS Code of Ethics and Values.
As employees of the Commonwealth of Virginia and the Office of Children’s Services, we will not:
  • Violate the State Government Conflict of Interest Act.
  • Use public resources for private gain.
  • Knowingly sign, subscribe to, or permit issuance of information that contains a misstatement or omits relevant data.
  • Knowingly conduct or condone any illegal or improper activity.
